Responsibilities

Let's Get Specific

Independently compiling, completing working papers and financial statements for all Review and/or Compilation Engagement documents to be issued to clients, including working papers, financial statements, planning documents, notes, attached schedules, management letters and tax returns.

Providing constructive feedback of working papers and Review and/or Compilation Engagements and offers guidance and direction to Team Members to support their growth and development

At the invitation of Partners, attend the Review and/or Compilation Engagement final meetings with clients to observe and contribute towards discussions as appropriate.

Identifying tax planning opportunities and more efficient tax treatments for corporate and trust tax returns and brings them to the attention of the Senior Manager and/or a Partner.

Completing compliance review of prepared corporate and personal tax returns, including preparation of income tax slips and filings, including T4's and T5's.

Implementing tax engagements while meeting the Firm's quality standards.

Providing technical expertise, coaching and guidance to Team Members who need tax support on their client files or specific questions from their clients.

Coaching team members by providing support and development and by conducting performance evaluations, if deemed appropriate.

Preparing tax plans and compliance related reports.

Preparing client correspondence, including reports, discussion of technical issues and recommendations.

Updating DT practice with all project information and preparing interim invoices, as required.

Other duties and special projects as assigned to support the Firm and develop your skills

Experience, Education and Knowledge Requirements

You are required to lead Review and/or Compilation Engagements while meeting the Firm’s high-quality standards and provide technical expertise for Team Members who need support on their client files or specific questions from their clients.

  • As a result, you must have a university degree in accounting or equivalent and enrolled, near completion of your CPA. 
  • You need to have comprehensive knowledge to be able to work through Review and Compilation Engagements and tax files independently in a public accounting firm setting. This comes with expert comprehension of accounting, tax rules and treatment and advanced level knowledge for corporate and personal returns. This technical knowledge typically comes with 3-5 years of working experience.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office, specifically, Word and Excel with the ability to create formulas, VLOOKUP, pivot table, data analytics etc.
  • Proficiency with CaseWare, Taxprep, Quickbooks, QBO and other bookkeeping software
